Coaching Categories
Coaching categories let you organise your coaching workouts by type — Strength, Endurance, Technique, or any custom category you create. Changes to your categories automatically sync to your clients’ schedules, keeping everything consistent.
Coaching categories are separate from your personal workout categories. They only apply to coaching workouts and client schedules.
Managing Categories
Access your coaching categories from Coaching → Workouts, then click the menu (three dots) and select Edit Categories.
From here you can:
- Create new categories with custom names and colors
- Edit existing category names and colors
- Delete categories you no longer need
Default Categories
When you become a coach, you receive copies of the default system categories:
- Strength
- Endurance
- Power
- Technique
- Conditioning
- Recovery
- None
You can rename, recolor, or delete any of these except None, which is protected.
Creating a Category
Open categories
Go to Coaching → Workouts, click the menu, and select Edit Categories.
Add new category
Click Add New Category.
Configure
Enter a name and pick a color.
Save
Click Save to create the category.
Editing a Category
Hover over any category and click Edit to change its name or color.
When you rename or recolor a category, the change syncs to all client workouts using that category. Your clients will see the updated name and color on their schedules.
Deleting a Category
Hover over a category and click the trash icon to delete it.
When you delete a category:
- All coaching workouts using that category move to None
- Linked client workouts also update to None
- This action cannot be undone
The None category cannot be deleted. It serves as the fallback for uncategorized workouts.
How Syncing Works
Coaching categories stay in sync with your clients automatically:
| Action | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Assign category to coaching workout | Linked client workouts update to match |
| Rename a category | All client workouts using it show the new name |
| Change category color | All client workouts using it show the new color |
| Delete a category | Coaching workouts and linked client workouts move to None |
This means you can rebrand “Strength” to “Max Strength” and every client workout using that category updates automatically.
Tips
- Keep categories simple — A handful of well-defined categories is easier to manage than dozens of specific ones
- Use colors strategically — Distinct colors help clients quickly identify workout types on their calendar
- Rename before deleting — If you want to merge categories, rename one to match the other rather than deleting and reassigning manually
