Coaching With the Assistant
When you’re in Coach Mode, the assistant works on your client’s plan instead of yours. You can ask it to review their load, plan around their availability or shape their next block, and it proposes changes for you to apply, just as it does for your own plan.
Before You Start
The assistant must be turned on in your own Settings → Experimental Features. Your client doesn’t need to turn it on. You agree to the assistant’s notice once, and that covers every client you work on.
Working on a Client’s Plan
Open Coach Mode for the client, then open the assistant. It calls the client by their first name, and the suggestions switch to coaching versions. On web, the chips above the message box include:
- Review their load — “Review this athlete’s next two weeks and flag any problems with the training load.”
- Plan availability — “Help me adjust this athlete’s plan around their availability next week.”
- Explain this block — “Explain the purpose and progression of this athlete’s next training block.”
- Use their library — “Suggest a useful session swap from this athlete’s activity library.”
It reads the client’s plan, history, notes, goals, events, tests and logbooks, and only proposes workouts from their library and plans they have access to. It can’t create, edit or delete coaching notes.
Be specific when the client has told you something:
Sam can’t train on 12 November. Move the board session to Thursday and keep the rest of the week as it is.
Sam mentioned a sore A2 pulley after Saturday’s session. What would you do with next week?
For anything involving pain, the assistant asks how you want to handle it rather than deciding for you. See Training With a Niggle or Injury.
Conversations and Memories
Conversations you have about a client belong to you. The client can’t see them.
Memories are different. If you ask the assistant to remember something about a client, such as “Remember that Sam can’t train on Mondays because of work”, the memory is saved on the client’s account. They see it in Settings → Assistant, marked Added by your coach, and either of you can delete it. Only save things you’re happy for the client to read.
Your Allowance
Messages you send while working on a client’s plan use your own allowance of 40 messages in any 24 hours, never the client’s. Settings → Assistant shows a Messages sent for your climbers breakdown for the month.
