Integrations
Sequence connects with external services to help you share and track your training data. Currently, you can connect your Strava account to automatically sync completed workouts.
Strava
Connect your Strava account to automatically share completed workouts. When you finish a workout in Sequence, it syncs to your Strava activity feed.
What Syncs
When a workout is marked complete, Sequence sends to Strava:
| Data | Description |
|---|---|
| Activity name | Prefixed with “Sequence - “ |
| Sport type | Automatically matched (see below) |
| Duration | Actual or estimated workout duration |
| Date | The scheduled workout date |
| Description | Notes, activity description, and widget entries |
Sport Type Matching
Sequence automatically matches your workout category to Strava’s sport types:
- Exact matches — “Run”, “Yoga”, “Swim” map directly
- Common terms — “Cycling” maps to “Ride”, “Jogging” maps to “Run”
- Climbing workouts — Default to “Rock Climbing” if no better match
If Sequence can’t determine the sport type from your workout or category name, it defaults to Rock Climbing.
Connecting Strava
Go to Settings
Navigate to Settings → Integrations from the sidebar or user menu.
Click Connect with Strava
Click the orange Connect with Strava button.
Authorize Sequence
You’ll be redirected to Strava. Log in if needed and click Authorize to allow Sequence to create activities on your behalf.
Confirmation
You’ll be redirected back to Sequence with a success message. Your Strava account is now connected.
How Syncing Works
Once connected:
- Complete a workout — Mark any scheduled workout as complete
- Automatic sync — Sequence queues the workout for Strava sync
- Activity created — A new activity appears in your Strava feed
Sync happens automatically in the background. If a sync fails (e.g., network issues), Sequence will retry automatically.
What’s Included in the Description
The Strava activity description includes:
- Notes — Any notes you added when completing the workout
- Activity description — Falls back to the workout description if no notes
- Widget entries — Logbook climbs, measures, slider ratings, and select values
- Attribution — “Synced from Sequence” footer
Disconnecting Strava
Go to Settings
Navigate to Settings → Integrations.
Click Disconnect
Click the Disconnect button next to your Strava connection.
Confirm
Your Strava account is now disconnected. Previously synced activities remain on Strava.
Disconnecting removes the link between Sequence and Strava. Future completed workouts won’t sync until you reconnect.
Tips
Activity Names
- Strava activities are prefixed with “Sequence - ” so you can identify synced workouts
- Use descriptive workout names in Sequence for better Strava activity titles
Sport Types
- Name your categories clearly (e.g., “Running”, “Yoga”, “Strength”) for accurate sport type matching
- Climbing-related workouts automatically map to Rock Climbing
Duplicate Prevention
- Each workout syncs once — completing the same workout again won’t create duplicates
- If you need to update a synced activity, edit it directly in Strava
Troubleshooting
Workout didn’t sync
- Ensure your Strava account is still connected in Settings → Integrations
- Check that the workout was marked as complete
- Syncs may take a few moments to process
Wrong sport type
- Update your workout or category name to better match the intended sport
- Common terms like “Run”, “Bike”, “Swim”, “Yoga” are recognized
Need to resync
- To resync / update a workout is to Reschedule, then Complete it again. ie. it triggers only when state is changed from (something) to completed
Next Steps
- Settings — Configure other account settings
- Completing Workouts — Learn about the workout completion flow
- Logbook — Track climbs that sync to Strava descriptions
